Alexi Tuomarila Trio


Alexi Tuomarila (b. 1972) is a finnish jazz pianist. The regular line-up of his trio consists of finnish drummer Olavi Louhivuori and norwegian bass player Mats Eilertsen. With this line-up, the trio released album Constellation in 2006. Alexi Tuomarila started playing piano at the age of 4 with the Suzuki Method and went to study classical piano at the Espoo Music Institute, Finland (1980-1992). The jazz bug bit him after being introduced to his fathers record collection. After completing upper secondary school, he went to study at the Oulunkylä Pop & Jazz Conservatory of Helsinki, Finland (1993-1994). After a year at the Conservatory he moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, Departement of Jazz & Commercial Music (1994-1999). There he studied with pianists Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Loriels and obtained his Master of Music Degree in September 1999. Read more on Last.fm.
