Mexican composer born in Alamos Sonora in 1950. In 1966 he began his music training with Thomas Rosseti and Eva McGowen in La Puente Calif. In 1969-70 he was conductor of the Navojoa Sonora Band. His pursue his music studies at the Conservatory of Music of México, the Taller de Composición of the Institute of Fine Arts of México with Joaquín Gutiérrez Heras, Hector Quintanar, Raúl Pavón and Federico Ibarra, at Paris with Jacques Casterede and at the California Institute of the Arts with Morton Subotnick, Lucky Mosko, Mel Powel and James Newton. He has worked at the National University of MÈxico, Superior School of Music and CENIDIM (National Center of Research, Documentation and Information of Mexican Music). His main works are: SON A TAMAYO for harp, percussion, tape and video; TIERRA and LA NAO for dance and tape; HOMENAJE A GISMONTI for string quartet; PAISAJES BAJO EL SIGNO DE COSMOS for orchestra; DANZON 1 thru 8 for different ensembles; ZARABANDEO for clarinet and piano; MASCARAS for harp and orchestra; ESPEJOS EN LA ARENA for cello and orquestra (also a viola version). In 1991 he received the composition scholarship of the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes and in 1994, 1997 and 2004 a 3 year scholorship from the Sistema Nacional de Creadores.
