The ethnic band Astarta began their career September of 2009. Since that time Astarta have proved themselves as a perspective and driving band. They have been often invited by different international festivals for participation and gathered large audiences there. Astarta have taken part in a number of festivals as “Rozhanytsya”, “Zahid”, “Poliske kolo”, “Trypilske kolo”, “Trypilski zori”, and “Kraina mriy”. Also they have been invited to international fests in Russia and Poland. Most of songs of Astarta’s repertoire are Ukrainian folk songs which had been adapted to here and now. It’s not just about that, as the girls write also some texts themselves. It sounds like an interesting mix of ancient times and modernity or, moreover, a bridge between different generations! The band consists of Inna Kovtun, Yulia Malyarenko, Colin Edwin, Eduard Prystupa, Jon Durant, and Pat Mastelotto.
