BFT

The Skipperdees, formerly known as BFT, formally known as Blunt Force Trauma, is a snazzy, funkalicious group from the Ridge, Tennessee made up of Emily Backus (drizzums) and Catherine Backus (vocals and gi-tar). Influenced by such music greats as Cheap Trick, Salt-N-Pepa, Patsy Cline, and, of course, Fergie, The Skipperdees puts together a sound that is not only creative, but plain ol' knee-slappin', finger lickin' good! The Skipperdees came into the mainstream Oak Ridge music scene after their song The Abstinence Song hit the shelves. The song, a satirical anthem about the abstinence only policy in health classes across the nation, tells angsty, hormone-crazy teens everywhere, If you get HIV, you'll die. That's right!...don't have sex, until you're married. Since the song's success years ago, they have played it at every one of their concerts, inviting the audience to sing along. As popular as The Abstinence Song is, the Skipperdees is perhaps best known for their humor (i.e. Have you heard the one about the muffins?) and their connection with their audience, speaking with them as if they were a part of the show as well. They have developed a fan base that, despite being mostly local, will undoubtedly stay with them throughout their musical careers. Read more on Last.fm.
