Backdrifts are an experimental rock duo from Jersey, Channel Islands, formed in 2012. The band started as a way to explore improvisation, tone, dynamics and production, without the limitations of conventional song and band structures. Backdrifts consists of Rory Mitchell on guitars and Mikey Phillips on drums. The musical direction of the band is based on gut feelings and often changes, but has been influenced by artists such as Radiohead, Mogwai, Animal Collective, Zach Hill, Bloc Party, and Sunn O))).
