Bernd Klug


Bernd Klug: double bass / sound art (US/AT) Currently residing in New York and Vienna, Klug works as a double bassist and sound artist in a wide variety of contemporary contexts with a focus on improvisation. His solo work focuses on the world inside the double bass: the bow, the body, and room frequencies lay the groundwork for a radical reduction of both the composer-performer’s role and the traditional musical narrative. In his recent sound installations he uses modular concepts to investigate sound as sculpture and content to design social spaces. Most recently, he has held sound exhibitions at Harvestworks (NYC), Klangmanifeste (Vienna), and Bard College. He has played solo concerts at Klub Moozak (Fluc, Vienna), share (Issue Project Room, NYC) and Biegungen (Ausland, Berlin) focusing on the double bass and its feedbacks as a live sound installation Concerts and collaborations with: Meaghan Burke, Danielle Dahl, Mimu Merz, OENCZkekvist, Le Cowboy (Burke/Schweighart/Klug), ctrl, Ritornell, Bernhard Hammer, Sixtus Preiss, Gust Burns, Brendan Landis, Burkhard Stangl, John Butcher, Franz Hautzinger, Butch Morris, Bernhard Lang, Daniel Lercher, Henrik Munkeby N?rsteb?, Radu Malfatti, Keiko Uenishi, Werner Kitzm?ller, Violetta Parisini and many others.
