Bettina Flater

Bettina started her musical career singing her own songs in the streets of Oslo and other European cities from 1996. Around this date she also discovered and fell in love with the flamenco guitar. Since the year 2000 she has been earning her living as a flamenco guitarist. In 2006 she moved to Madrid, where she has worked with artists on all levels, among them many of the leading figures of today's flamenco panorama. She has played in the best spanish theatres - some examples being the Teatro Central of Sevilla, Villamarta in Jerez, as well as Teatro Albeniz and Teatro del Canal in Madrid. Her career has taken her all over Spain and the world - from Casablanca, Morocco to Trondheim, Norway; from Lahore in the east to New York in the west. Throughout her years working as a guitarist, Bettina never stopped singing and composing her songs, into which flamenco elements slowly begin to make their way. The result is a unique and groundbreaking fusion, a paradoxical meeting between north and south - effectively, the essence of what Bettina is. One of these pieces, Rondane, was recently recorded under the production of the legendary flamenco guitarist Manolo Sanlucar. He wants to include it in his present project, a recompilation of today's flamenco. Rondane is to be included as an example of fusion. She is currently recording a solo album in Madrid in Radiologica Studios. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; ad...
