Bibi Black
From Answers.com No one had told young Bibi Black that women didn't -- as a pretty firm rule -- play trumpet and get anywhere professionally with it. So, when she was only 11 years old, the talented Huntsville, AL, native began to study trumpet with a heart full of dreams. She furthered her musical education by attending the Interlochen Arts Academy and then went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Curtis Institute of Music. During her remarkable classical career, Bibi Black has completed a few solo recordings, won the Philadelphia Orchestra's Young Artists Competition, and the Grahm-Stahl Competition. Before reaching her 24th birthday, Black had landed a spot as Second Trumpet in the Philadelphia Orchestra. She was the first female to ever hold that position. She has also toured worldwide and performed with the Vancouver Symphony, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camerate Musica of Berlin, and others. ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi Read more: http://www.answers.com/topic/black-band#ixzz1Ovph9rdh Read more on Last.fm.
