Echoes de Luxe have a sound and spirit that embodies 70's era rock bred with the sonic experimentation of today. Although their sound infuses many recognizable elements they refuse to be pigeon-holed into any one genre. When asked to categorize their music you will often hear the enigmatic words Avant-Rock; an ambiguous term that leaves the listener alone to find the definition for themselves and Echoes de Luxe alone to continue creating it. Echoes de Luxe released their debut EP in March of 2009. Mixed by Alex Newport (Mars Volta, Death Cab for Cutie) and mastered by Pete Lyman (Mars Volta, Jubilee), the 5 songs showcased impressive range and creativity and won the band an early champion in Jane's Addiction guitarist, Dave Navarro. He played their songs consistently on his radio show “Dark Matter”, broadcast on Los Angeles' Indie 103.1. The band also performed on-air in the Indie studio. While playing shows in support of the EP, Echoes de Luxe were already hard at work writing new material. Eager to show off their new songs, the band set about recording their next release. With no money for a recording budget, they decided to go a different route: they would make the music for free and make it available to their fans for free. Using their knowledge gained from years of working with 4-track cassette recorders and digital workstations, they began recording everything in their downtown LA rehearsal studio in November of ‘09.
